According to Deputy Superintendent Rodney Green with the Blount County Schools in Oneonta, all four schools in the Hayden community will operate on regular schedules. The problems with the water supply, which resulted in the schools cancelling classes on Thursday, have been resolved.

“We actually had two separate problems with sediment and discoloration getting into the [water] lines,” Green said. “We did some precautionary tests, and those tests came back to say that the water was 100 percent safe.”

Green said that no make-up day will be necessary, as the system’s school-day schedule has extra minutes built in that permit up to three weather days per year.

“We’ve already used one day system-wide for weather, and Thursday will count as the second day for Hayden,” Green said. “We have one more available, so if we had to use more than that, then we would have to consider additional days.”
