Gardendale got momentum from a 23-point effort in the third quarter, then held on to withstand a similar spurt by Carver in the fourth as the Rockets got a Class 6A Area 12 win by a 54-48 score Tuesday.

Roxie Faulkner led Gardendale (2-6, 1-0 area) with 15 points, and Joy Sadler had a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Mallorie Corbin had 14 points and seven assists.

Kylie Roscoe led the Rams (3-6, 1-1) with 16 points, and Jada Swinnie added 11.
