NJN/am for Friday, November 29

Hope you’re enjoying yourself on this Black Friday, as you stand outside some store early this morning freezing your cash off – but that’s okay, because the The Most Epic Iron Bowl Ever is tomorrow…
Weather: Warming slightly. After record low temperatures over the last couple of nights, we’ll see that sunshine finally start to warm things up somewhat. Today’s high will reach the middle 50s with lows tonight just below freezing. Saturday’s high will hit the upper 50s and the low in the upper 30s. Sunday will see a slight chance of rain with highs near 60 and lows in the lower 40s. At kickoff tomorrow, there should be lots of sunshine and temps in the upper 50s.
Surprise airplane landing in Trussville. Thankfully, no one was injured when a single-engine Beechcraft airplane made an emergency landing in a farm field near Trussville Thursday morning. The plane was headed from Virginia Beach, Va. To Birmingham-Shuttlesworth Airport when its pilot told the control tower they were having problems. The plane landed safety, finally stopped by a tree. The three passengers were largely unhurt and required no medical attention.
Sports: Here at last. The most anticipated Iron Bowl matchup in quite a few years is almost here, as top-ranked Alabama travels to No. 4 Auburn. The oddmakers in Las Vegas have moved the point spread a bit, with the Crimson Tide now listed as a 10½-point favorite over the Tigers, up from 9½. (We tell you this for entertainment purposes only, because no one in Alabama ever wagers on college football – wink, wink.)
The North Jefferson News office is closed for the today, but we will have some updates on our website.
