Pinson Valley had to turn on the jets to make it happen, but defensive pressure in the second half led the Indians to a 56-52 win over Leeds Monday afternoon in the consolation bracket of the Bryant Bank Thanksgiving Tournament at Hewitt-Trussville.

Down by 13 at halftime, the Tribe (2-3) steadily shaved points off the deficit, cutting the Green Wave lead to five points after three quarters and four with four minutes left to play. Pinson outscored Leeds 20-11 in the fourth quarter.

Zach Jackson led the Indians with 18 points. Cordarius Reese was 3-of-5 from behind the 3-point arc for nine points, and Kerry Griffith also scored nine to go with nine rebounds.

The Indians had been ice cold in the first half, and shot 27 percent overall from the field, and almost as bad from the free throw line, but managed to claw their way back late.

Pinson faces the winner of the Oak Mountain-Fort Payne game in the consolation-bracket finals.
