Girls basketball: Pinson Valley 45, Mortimer Jordan 40

Destini McKinney scored a double-double, as Pinson Valley got its first girls basketball win of the season by defeating Mortimer Jordan 45-40.

The win came in the first round of the Bryant Bank Thanksgiving Tournament at Hewitt-Trussville.

Alex Lowery scored 12 points, and Maralie McKinney added 10 points and six steals for the Indians (1-2).

Next up for the Tribe is a meeting with Vestavia Hills, which beat Chelsea in the first round. That game takes place at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Bryant Bank Arena.
