Austin Hicks and Juan Jackson each had 11 points and foure rebounds, as Gardendale got out to an early lead and hung on to beat Oak Mountain 53-42 in boys basketball action Tuesday.

Jackson also had five steals. Allen Williams scored nine points for the Rockets in their season opener.

Theron Anderson scored 12 points for the Eagles (2-2).

Gardendale hosts Clay-Chalkville on Thursday night.
