An electronics store on Main Street was held up by an armed robber Thursday morning, but Gardendale Police already have a suspect in custody.

GPD spokesman Lt. Bryan Lynch said the Radio Shack store at 1040 Main Street was hit by a robber at about 11 a.m. The suspect took an undetermined number of smart phones and similar electronic equipment, then fled on foot across the parking lot of the shopping center.

Police apprehended the suspect shortly afterward.

The suspect’s name will not be released until a formal warrant is issued, which Lynch said should be sometime Friday morning at the latest.

No one was hurt in the incident.
