According to Gardendale Police Lt. Bryan Lynch, Kristopher Brent Beasley had been lodged in the city jail after being arrested for shoplifting on Oct. 7. Two days later while in the exercise area with other male inmates, Beasley escaped from the enclosure and fled on foot.

He was arrested five minutes later, and was treated for cuts sustained from razor wire atop the enclosure’s fencing.

Beasley, 28, was then charged with second-degree escape with bond set at $15,000, and was moved to the county lockup. The escape charge carries a possible sentence of up to 10 years plus as much as $15,000 in fines.
