Buchannon, a 5-foot-8, 180-lb. senior, scored on runs of 74, 53, 3 and 1 yards, and also caught a 56-yard touchdown pass from Jacob Sloan as time expired in the first half.
The Blue Devils had a big night from quarterback Devlin Hodges, who completed 18 passes on 31 attempts for 230 yards, including a 2-yard scoring throw to Jonderil Tanks. Hodges also kicked two extra points on three attempts.
Jordan briefly held the lead early on. Buchannon scored with 7:42 left in the first period, but Yakeim Green tied the game on a 3-yard touchdown run five minutes later, and Hodges’ conversion put the Devils ahead by one.
But that was as good as it got for the visitors, as Buchannon took control of the game from there. His rushing total was more than that of Jordan’s entire ground game, though Hodges made up for much of the deficit through the air.
The Devils got late touchdowns from a 25-yard run by Colby Moon and a 9-yard scamper by Landon Smith. Kejuan Feagan scored Pleasant Grove’s other touchdown.
Sloan was 7-for-12 in passing with an interception and 109 yards for the Spartans.
