A van stolen Saturday from an elderly victim near Lassiter Mountain Dragway has been found.

The 1988 red Chevrolet van was located in a trailer park near Forestdale. It had been taken from an 80-year-old Birmingham man who was cleaning property he owned on Brackett Loop Road, just west of the drag strip near the Watson community.

The victim was slugged by the robber, who then pulled a gun out and forced the victim into a storage shed. The victim’s son became concerned after his father wasn’t accounted for, and found him early Monday morning. The victim refused medical attention from paramedics.

A Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said that a description of the robber has not yet been released. Anyone with information about this robbery should call their office at 325-1450, or Crimestoppers at 254-7777.
