The council authorized Mayor Jim Lowery to contract with Walker Wickstrom for engineering work on the latest phase of the Black Street Station development. Wickstrom is being used instead of city engineer Frank Spencer, Lowery said, because Spencer has a stake in the development and therefore would have a conflict of interest.

Lowery was also authorized by the council to deal with the Jefferson County Office of Senior Citizens regarding additional Enhanced Activity Seed funds. Those funds would come from the state’s Department of Senior Services, and would benefit the city’s and the Mt. Olive Senior Center’s programs.
