It’s here! Happy Friday.
Weather: Look for some moisture this evening and tonight, as there is a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms this evening and tonight. Some of the storms could be severe. Today’s high is a muggy 89, with humidity at 62 percent. The low is 72.
Falling farther: More businesses are cutting their ties with Food Network star Paula Deen after she admitted that she used a racial slur 27 years ago. Target and Home Depot ended their affiliation with Deen. Earlier, Walmart, Smithfield Foods and Caesars Entertainment halted their business relationship with the food star. The Food Network was the first business partner to cut ties with Deen when it cancelled her show. However, some media reports indicate that the network might have cancelled the show due to falling ratings rather than Deen’s “n-word” scandal that won’t seem to fade away.
Closer to home: The North Jefferson News, like most other businesses besides hospital and food providers, will be closed Thursday for Independence Day. So will most of the city hall buildings and other official businesses.
