A resolution to designate an official depository for a recent bond-warrant issue was the only item of official business on Monday’s Fultondale City Council agenda.

Regions Bank was designated as the depository to hold the funds from the 2013-A Warrant, an issue designed to reduce interest costs on previous borrowing by the city.

Mayor Jim Lowery also announced that the Alabama Department of Transportation would begin counting traffic around the Interstate 65 interchange with Walker Chapel Road in the fall. The city is seeking to have traffic signals installed at the entrance and exit ramps from I-65.

In other business, the council:

• Heard a report from council member Greg Morris that property south of Ashley Furniture in the Promenade Shopping Center is now under contract to two developers, and that 16 retailers were in talks to locate in a possible development there
• Heard a report regarding the Fultondale Stampede 5K run, which attracted more than 150 runners and raised more than $3,600 for the Fultondale Fire Department
• Received a plaque, along with the city’s parks and recreation department, from Fultondale Youth Baseball in appreciation of support of the program last season.
