A person who was killed in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on Pinson Valley Parkway been identified.

The Jeferson County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Betty McGinnis of Birmingham, who was a passenger in a Buick sedan. She was declared dead at the scene.

The driver and one other passenger were taken to local hospitals by helicopter. Their names and conditions have not been released.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said that the crash happened at the intersection with Sweeney Hollow Road just before 2 p.m., when the car turned into the path of an oncoming SUV.
