It’s Tuesday, say goodbye to the long weekend…

Weather: Summertime. Sunny, warm days are ahead, with highs in the upper 80s and lows in the upper 60s. The same holds for Wednesday.

In remembrance of those passed. Fultondale’s Hawkins Carter American Legion post marked Memorial Day yesterday with a ceremony to remember eight local veterans who passed away in the previous 12 months. Four of them served in World War II and four more in Korea, with two of the latter also serving in Vietnam.

Obama on the road. The president was only too happy to get away from the three scandals now plaguing his administration, as he spent Sunday in Moore, Okla. consoling tornado victims, then appearing at the traditional Memorial Day speech at Arlington National Cemetery. He continues today as he travels to New Jersey to meet with Gov. Chris Christie, as the two tour areas that were ravaged by Hurricane Sandy.

Sports: Spurs sweep. San Antonio will appear in yet another NBA Finals series, as they took care of Memphis in four games in the Western Conference finals Monday. The Spurs won the fourth game 93-86 on the Grizzlies’ home court… NHL: Chicago and Detroit will take their second-round playoff series to a second game, as the Blackhawks won Dame Six by a 4-3 score Monday Down 2-1 going into the third period, the Hawks scored three goals in nine minutes. Tonight, the two California teams go to Game Seven in their series, as San Jose and Los Angeles drop the puck tonight… Auto racing: Top IndyCar driver Tony Kanaan finally won his first Indianapolis 500 in 12 tries on Sunday, pouncing on a green-flag restart with three laps to go, then winning under caution as Dario Franchitti crashed. Meanwhile, Kevin Harvick won NASCAR’s longest race of the season at Charlotte, as he took the Coca-Cola 600. The race was red-flagged early on when a nylon cord that held up a Fox Sports aerial camera snapped, injuring 10 spectators.
