Fultondale United Methodist collecting relief materials for Oklahoma tornado victims

A local church is partnering with a Boy Scout troop to send relief supplies to the victims of last week’s tornado in Moore, Okla.
Fultondale United Methodist Church and Scout troop 74 is collecting and assembling cleaning and health kits, which will be distributed through the United Methodist Committee on Relief. Volunteers will be at the church on Tuesdays and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to collect supplies and assemble kits.
The materials needed for health kits include:
- Hand towels, 15” by 25” to 17” by 27” (kitchen, cleaning and microfiber towels not acceptable)
- Washcloths
- Combs
- Metal nail file or clipper (no emery boards or toenail clippers, please)
- Bath size soap, 3 oz. and larger sizes only and in original packaging
- Toothbrushes, adult size only – sealed single-pack in original package only
- ¾” to 1“ household adhesive bandages
- Gallon size resealable bags (Ziploc, etc.)
Cleaning kit items needed include:
- Five-gallon bucket with re-sealable lid
- Scouring pads
- Sponges
- Scrub brush
- Cleaning towels (reusable wipes)
- Liquid laundry detergent (two 25 oz. or one 50 oz. bottle)
- Household cleaner, 12-16 oz. bottle
- Disinfectant dish soap, 16-28 oz. bottle
- Clothes pins
- Clothes line (50 ft. or 100 ft.)
- Dust masks
- Latex gloves
- Leather palms and cloth back-of-hands work gloves
- 24-bag rolls of heavy-duty trash bags, 33-45 gallon
- Insect repellant spray, 6-14 oz. can (if aerosol, cans must have protective caps)
- Air freshener, 8-9 oz. can (if aerosol, cans must have protective caps)
