The junior third baseman smacked a one-out, 2-2 pitch from Scottsboro’s Emily Oliver over the left field fence, sending Maleah Hargett home in front of her, as Hayden won a 2-0 decision in the winner’s bracket finals of the AHSAA Class 5A State Softball Tournament.

Pitcher Caitlin Kirkland struck out four and scattered five hits, including one long ball from Glover’s bat that almost cleared the center field fence.

Hayden will play at approximately 3 p.m. (moved up from the original 5 p.m. scheduled time) in a chance to win the school’s first-ever varsity championship in any AHSAA-sanctioned sport.

Scottsboro will play against the winner of the Curry-Faith Academy loser’s bracket game, with the loser’s bracket final to follow at about 1:30.
