Bedard – Skipper

Leanna Noelle Skipper and Edmond Heath Bedard

Miss Leanna Noelle Skipper and Mr. Edmond Heath Bedard were united in marriage at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, September 29, 2012. The vows were exchanged at the First United Methodist Church in Cullman, Alabama. Reverend Ted Amey of Madison, Alabama and Father Patrick Egan of Cullman, Alabama officiated the double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Danny B. Skipper of Cullman, Alabama. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert N. Tidwell, Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Emil L. Skipper, all of Cullman, Alabama.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edmond E. Bedard of Cullman, Alabama. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert E. Bedard and the late Mr. and Mrs. Al Gasser, all of Cullman, Alabama.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of silk satin with a re-embroidered lace overlay. The deep halter neckline was the gown’s focal interest and created a keyhole back. The silhouette of the gown was slim with a princess waistline and gently flared from the knee to soft fullness. The bride chose to wear her mother’s chapel length veil of illusion edged with Venice lace and motifs. The bride also chose to wear the pearl necklace worn by her paternal grandmother on her wedding day. She carried a European hand-tied bouquet with pincushion protea, green cymbidium orchids, blue thistle, sunflower centers, red hypericum berries and eggplant miniature calla lilies encircled with loops of curly willow. The bouquet was wrapped in a keepsake handkerchief presented to her at birth.

Matrons of honor were Jennifer Roberts Shell, friend of the bride, of Deatsville, Alabama and Amy Pope Jeffrey, friend of the bride of Hanceville, Alabama. Bridesmaids were Natalie Shearer Huff, friend of the bride of Huntsville, Alabama and Amy Heatherly, friend of the bride of Birmingham, Alabama. The attendants wore long taffeta dresses in copper of personal design and carried hand-tied bouquets fashioned in colors and flowers to compliment the bridal bouquet.

Flower girls were Tess and Evy Gardner, nieces of the groom of Birmingham, Alabama. The flower girls wore dresses of layered cream tulle gathered on silk ribbon accented with silk flowers and matching headdresses. The flower girls dropped petals from antique metal baskets with galvanized inserts which were encircled with ivy and hand tied ribbons.

The altar arrangement consisted of flowers and colors coordinating the bridal bouquet. A bride’s bible, presented to the bride by her paternal grandparents at her baptism, was placed in the center of the arrangement which also featured a handmade vine cross placed above the arrangement.

Best man was Mr. Edmond E. Bedard, father of the groom. Groomsmen were Scott Gardner, brother-in-law of the groom of Birmingham, Alabama; Marshall Polk, cousin of the groom of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Patrick Drake, friend of the groom of Cullman, Alabama; Hunter Hewitt, friend of the groom of Pelham, Alabama; and Jonathan Westbrook, friend of the groom of Birmingham, Alabama.

Program attendants were Emmalee Tidwell, cousin of the bride of Cullman, Alabama; and Kristin and Emily Forrester, cousins of the groom of Birmingham, Alabama.

Bridal registry was attended by Maria Bedard, sister of the groom, of Birmingham, Alabama.

Wedding music was provided by violinists, Penny Adair, Stephen Adair and Haleigh Black. Soloist/guitarist was Robert Tidwell, Jr., uncle of the bride, and guitarist, Tyler J. Skipper, brother of the bride, of Cullman, Alabama.

Vicki Branch, Clara Kent and Tammy Roden, friends of the bride’s family, directed the wedding. Jeanne Yalsh coordinated the wedding.

Following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held at TP Country Club. Music was provided by pianist Rex Seymore, friend of the groom’s family, of Addison, Alabama.

Servers at the bride’s table were Glenda Tidwell, aunt of the bride, Erin M. Tidwell and Emmalee Tidwell, cousins of the bride, of Cullman, Alabama. The heirloom bride and groom cake topper was also used on her maternal grandparents’ and her parents’ wedding cakes.

Servers at the groom’s table were Lisa Forrester, aunt of the groom, and Amy Forrester, cousin of the groom, of Birmingham, Alabama; Nancy Polk, aunt of the groom, of Nashville, Tennessee, and Mary Margaret Spradlin, aunt of the groom, of Huntsville, Alabama.

Favor attendants were Chrissie B. Gardner, sister of the groom, and Tess and Evy Gardner, nieces of the groom, of Birmingham, Alabama.

Gift table and reception registry was attended by Lacie T. Widner and Stacie D. Carter, cousins of the bride, of Cullman, Alabama.

After a honeymoon trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica, the couple will reside in Cullman, Alabama.

Pre-Nuptial Parties

A tool and kitchen shower was held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the home of Vicki and David Branch. Hosts and hostesses were: Vicki and David Branch, Jennifer and Judd Branch, Cheri and Randy Drake, Amy and Jeremiah Jeffrey, Clara and Greg Kent, Dianne and John Roberts, Tammy and Mike Roden, Jennifer and Jonathon Shell, and Kim and Bobby Taylor.

A bridal shower was held on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the home of Carin and Floyd Braswell. Hostesses were Carin Braswell, Lisa Forrester, Nancy Polk and Mary Margaret Spradlin.

A morning coffee was held on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at the home of Nancy and Chris Robinson. Hostesses were  Nancy Robinson, Susan Kraft and Virginia Pritchard.

An engagement party was held on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at ROJO in Birmingham, Alabama. Hosts and hostesses were Maria Bedard, Chrissie and Scott Gardner, and Marshall Polk.

A bridesmaids luncheon was held on Friday, September 28, 2012 at the home of Donna Leigeber. Hostesses were Jean Brooks, Glenda Tidwell and Emmalee Tidwell.

An after-rehearsal dinner was held on Friday, September 28, 2012 at TP Country Club’s 19th Hole and was hosted by the groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Bedard.
