Scott Falkinburg’s first-pitch solo homer in the sixth tied the game at 6-6, then Baker Hodge put the squeeze bunt down to score Tyler Evans from third to take the lead for good.

The homer was Falkinburg’s second of the game; he hit another solo shot in the first inning.

Pinson got an insurance run in the seventh when Joshua Hines’ sacrifice fly brought home Joseph Downing.

Gracen Armstrong hit a two-run double that was part of a four-run rally in the second inning for the Indians, which put them ahead 5-0 early. But the Blue Devils came back with three runs in the bottom of the second, and added a run in each of the next three innings to take the lead.

Taderrius Campbell hit a solo homer and a double for the Devils.

Six different Indians had two hits each: Falkinburg, Hines, Armstrong, Evans, Hodge and Austin Little.

Bailey Chesser was Pinson’s starting pitcher, but was pulled by coach Shane Chappell after getting in trouble in the bottom of the fourth. He threw three innings, struck out five, walked three and allowed six hits with four earned runs. Reliever Wyatt Burns got the win with four innings’ work, giving up just three hits and one earned run.

Pinson will host Walker, the runner-up in Area 12, in the first round of playoffs on Friday. Moody gets the second playoff berth from Area 11 and will travel to Mortimer Jordan. The winners of those three-game series will meet in the second round.
