Braegan McRae thought she was being surprised by throwing out the first pitch for opening day at Gardendale’s Upward Sports park.

Little did she know that her surprise was going to be even bigger — her father, Army Spec. Brandon McRae, just back from a second tour of duty in Afghanistan. Braegan had not seen her father for more than a year.
