The last vacancy among local high school coaching positions will be filled on Thursday.
The open position at Mortimer Jordan High School will be among the personnel matters on the agenda for the next meeting of the Jefferson County Board of Education. Principal Barbara Snider said she would not announce her choice before that time.
The meeting begins at 5 p.m. at the central office in Homewood.
Blue Devils head coach and athletic director Greg Watts is retiring after 14 seasons.
Five local high schools are going through football coaching changes during this off-season. Keith Register left Fultondale to take the job at Hayden, where Steve Kerby left after four seasons. Richie Busby was promoted from assitsant to the top job at Fultondale. At Gardendale, Matt Plunkett was hired last month to replace the departing Chris Fancher. And at Locust Fork, Chris Musso took over for Mike Bramblett, who left the Hornets for an assistant’s position at Hoover.
