Good Wednesday morning, north Jefferson.
Enjoy more sunshine today, with a predicted high of 61 degrees and a low of 31 degrees tonight. There is no rain in the forecast today, but that is likely to change by Friday.
What’s in a name: The Jefferson County Commission is changing the name of Mary Buckelew Boulevard after Buckelew, a former commissioner, pleaded guilty in 2008 to obstruction of justice after admitting she lied about receiving $4,000 in gifts from an investment banker in the county’s sewer scandal. Some top contenders for the new name are Barber Drive (the Dewey Barber Chevrolet dealership is moving to the area), Graham Parkway (after the land agent who worked for Andrew Jackson in the 1800s) and North Jefferson Parkway.
Hearing: Terry Greer, the former pastor of Gardendale-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, will stand before a judge Thursday in a preliminary hearing. Greer faces murder and attempted murder charges following a Jan. 10 shooting incident at the church parsonage, where he is accused of killing his wife Lisa and attempting to kill his daughter Suzanna. He is being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
