A tree was blown down onto a power line in front of Clayton Florist in Mt. Olive during heavy thunderstorms this afternoon.

Emergency personnel are still assessing storm damage from the intense thunderstorm that blew through north Jefferson County, but there are no reports of serious injuries so far.

In Warrior, numerous trees and power lines are down, including a couple of trees that fell onto houses. No one was home and there were no injuries, according to officials.

Trees were reportedly knocked down in the Hayden area as well.

An 18-wheeler was blown onto its side around the 280 mile marker on Interstate 65, just south of Warrior.

Officials in Warrior also reported a couple of vehicle accidents during the storm, the worst of which lasted about 20 minutes.

A Gardendale police dispatcher said there was no significant damage in that city. He said one tree was blown down, but it was cut away quickly and is not blocking roads.

There are significant power outages, however; the dispatcher said 100,000 customers are without electricity.

Fultondale reported no injuries or major damage.

Mt. Olive and Morris also saw fallen trees and some power lines down.
