Pitcher Luke Wall slammed a lead-off home run in the third inning for Hayden, but Pleasant Grove came back with scores in each of the last three innings for a 5-2 win in Friday baseball action.

The Wildcats had their chances early, but left 10 runners on base in the first five innings.
Hayden followed up Wall’s homer with a bases-loaded walk that brought in Michael Hoglan,
The Spartans got on the board when Caleb Webb’s fourth-inning double brought in a run; Colby Quinn then scored on a passed ball to tie the game.
Pleasant Grove took the lead in the fifth when they scored on an error and a Quinn RBI single, and added an insurance run in the sixth when Joe Hudson singled, moved around on two bunts, and scored on a passed ball.
The Spartans only had five hits, but benefited from several Wildcat errors. Wall was tagged with the loss, with three strikeouts, two walks and a hit batsman. Tristan Davis got the win with a whopping 12 strikeouts, allowing six hits and one earned run.
Hayden takes part in the Mortimer Jordan Spring Break Tournament starting Monday; they face Minor at 4 p.m. and Jordan at 6:30.
