Weather: Maybe a storm. Rain rolls in during the early-morning hours, increasing to possible thunderstorms just after the lunch hour, though nothing severe is expected. Highs today will be around 60, with lows tonight dipping to near freezing as rain exits. Wednesday will be sunny and breezy with a high around 50, and a nighttime low near 30.

Greer out of hospital and into jail. The former pastor of Gardendale-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church was released from UAB Hospital on Monday, and immediately taken to the Jefferson County Jail. The Rev. Dr. Terry Greer had been hospitalized ever since the Jan. 10 shooting at the church parsonage, in which his wife was killed and daughter wounded. Greer is charged with one count of murder and one of attempted murder for that incident, and is held without bond. Police say that Greer stabbed himself with knives after his daughter wrestled the gun away from him; he was treated at UAB for those stab wounds. The next legal proceedings in the case have not been set yet.

The naked Senator? Actress Ashley Judd, sister of singer Wynonna Judd and daughter of Naomi Judd, is reported by several media outlets to be considering a run for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., the Senate minority leader. But there may be a problem: as an actress, Ashley Judd has appeared fully nude in several films and partially nude in others. That likely wouldn’t go over well in a conservative-leaning state like Kentucky, according to various analysts on both sides of the political spectrum. And it would give new meaning to the term “opposition research.”

Sports: Nothing is good. Pinson Valley soccer coach Chris Mills is fine with the outcome of his team’s match with Spain Park on Monday night, which ended in a scoreless draw. The Indians held their own against the much-larger school, as goalkeeper Jaime Vargas tallied 12 saves. In other soccer action, Fultondale’s boys shut out Sipsey Valley 6-0. Six different Wildcats scored… Baseball: The first day of the Jefferson County Schools Baseball Tournament saw big wins for Gardendale and Mortimer Jordan. The Rockets mauled Center Point 15-1 in six innings, while the Blue Devils routed Corner 13-3 in five. Today, Pinson Valley travels to Corner, Jordan hosts center Point and Clay-Chalkville goes to Gardendale… Softball: Nicole Fisher’s two-out, two-run double in the top of the seventh gave Pinson Valley a 7-6 comeback win over Locust Fork.
