Greer passed away overnight at UAB Hospital, where she, her husband and her daughter had been transported after the incident. The death was confirmed by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
According to a press conference given at the crime scene by Gardendale Police Chief Mike Walker not long after the incident, two females sustained multiple gunshot wounds, with one injured critically.
Terry Greer sustained multiple stab wounds, and remains hospitalized at UAB as of Friday morning. He was listed in critical condition when transported; no official updates have been given since.
Greer is the pastor of Gardendale-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. He took over the pastorate last summer after serving at First United Methodist in Decatur; he swapped pulpits with longtime GMV pastor Rudy Guess.
Two separate health issues have kept Greer out of the pulpit since October, according to former Gardendale mayor Kenny Clemons, a member of the church and friend of Greer.
Meanwhile, Walker will hold another press conference at 3:30 p.m. at the Public Safety Center, where he will announce the latest developments in the investigation.
