Mayor Joe Pylant said the city did not have the money to purchase a hose and nozzle for the fire department. Fire Chief Rocky Bell said the department has a grant that would reimburse the city as soon as the purchase is made, but the council tabled the matter until the city has the funds.
Bell said the cost of the hose is $3,000 and the nozzle is $1,900.
The council also tabled a second request from Police Chief Brian Cochran to purchase tires for a police car and have brakes put onto a police truck. (Cochran is no longer the police chief; the following day, he was not reappointed to duty.)
Pylant said he anticipates the city receiving more revenue within the next month.
In other business, the council:
• adopted a holiday schedule for 2013
