Residents open houses for Christmas home tours

In keeping with holiday tradition, holiday home tours are on the schedule in north Jefferson.
For the next two Sundays, area houses will be open to ticket-holders to view the homes decorated for Christmas.
The first one is the Aegis Christmas Home Tour, which is Sunday,1-5 p.m. Aegis is a non-profit women’s group whose main focus is to help local schools through community fund-raisers.
Then on Dec. 9, the Fultondale Arts Council will host a Holiday Home Tour featuring homes, an artist market and bake shop.

In the past few years, Aegis has given more than $15,000 to Gardendale schools.
The Aegis Christmas tour features four homes:
• 6456 Glen Forest Drive in Gardendale, Donny and Sissy Headley
• 1439 Brookside Road in Mt. Olive, Randy and Monica Williams
• 9539 Ambrose Lane in Kimberly, Brian and Erika Hughes
• 1417 Acorn Way West in Mount Olive, Chris and Heather Alspach.
The Alspach home will also host a Sweet Shop, featuring complimentary seasonal beverages and also treats for sale from local caterers and bakeries.
Tickets are $10 each and admit one person. Children younger than 10 are not allowed on the tour.
Tickets are available from all Aegis members and at IberiaBank, Merle Norman, In Full Bloom, and at each home on the day of the tour.
Arts Council
On Dec. 9, the Fultondale Arts Council is sponsoring the first-ever Holiday Home Tour, along with an artist market and bake shop.
Proceeds will benefit the art’s council various programs.
Three homes are on the tour.
“We have beautiful homes on the tour, and each of the homes has its own unique theme to celebrate the holidays,” said Leenise Gaddy, vice president of IberiaBank and event co-chair. “We are very grateful to each of the owners who have opened their homes to help this wonderful cause.”
The homes on the tour include:
• 1905 Charlotte Cir., Fultondale Mayor Jim Lowery and his wife Blanche. The theme is “Family Holiday.”
• 733 Park Lane, the Leiperts. The theme is “Christmas Memories.”
• 3005 Overlook Lane, the Wilshers. The theme is “Home for the Holidays.”
The artist market and bake shop will be at IberiaBank on Decatur Highway.
Featured artists are Linda Holt, Fred Mobley, Sonia Payne, Jennifer Moore, She She Vaughn and Carolyn Wass.
The home tour, artist market and bake shop take place 1-5 p.m. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at IberiaBank in Fultondale, Butterflies in Fultondale, and In Full Bloom in Gardendale. Tickets will also be available the day of the event at each of the homes.
