Ruby “Ruth” Baker Moon

Ruby “Ruth” Baker Moon, age 89 was born in Cullman County on June 21, 1923 and went home to be with Jesus, Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Hanceville Nursing and Rehab in Cullman County. She resided in Gardendale for 60 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin R. Moon, who were married for 61 years; her mother and daddy, Era F. and Agnes Lee Wilson Baker; and brother, Howard “Buddy” Baker. She is survived by her five children, Gwen Hollis (Edwin) of Gardendale, Maxine Barnett (Gerald) of Hanceville, Lon Dee Moon (Dianne) of Gardendale, Sandra Campbell (J.E.) of Fultondale, and Linda Kay Parker of Fultondale; four sisters, Imogene McClendon of Cullman, Mildred Sandlin of Bremen, Mary Ellen Hutchinson of Mobile, and Marcell Ginn of Hanceville; two brothers, Harold Baker (Bess) of Cullman and Donald Baker (Faye) of Hanceville; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who loved and will miss her.
She was a member of the Pineywood Baptist Church in Gardendale and always considered herself an honorary member of the New Prospect Baptist Church in Cullman County where she was born and raised. She retired from Gardendale High School lunchroom after 16 years of service.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Sohn and Brent Barnett; great-grandsons, Austin Barnett and Roman Travis; and grand-sons-in-law, Chris Travis and Michael Sellers. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 2 p.m. from Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with visitation Tuesday from 5 until 8 p.m. Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Gardens with services officiated by Rev. Ray Ponder and Rev. David Richards with George Weeks providing song.
