A host of Gardendale’s elected and appointed officials turned out to officially break ground on the new City Center development Friday morning.

The development, located on the former Caufield Square property just off Mt. Olive Road, is the proposed home to a new City Hall, movie theater, park, hotel, restaurants and retail shops.

One of those restaurants has already closed on their new property, according to Mayor Othell Phillips. Buffalo Wild Wings will now start construction, and is expected to open this fall.
