Good morning, readers, here’s what’s going on in the county today:
Traffic:
The Cullman County Road Department will close County Road 1301 bridge below Lake George Dam today and will continue for about six weeks. Also, a crew will be paving on County Road 1436.
The Cullman City Street Department will have a patch crew at Katherine St. near Glover’s Market; and a road crew working on 5th Ave. SE.
The CSX Railroad will close the railroad intersection at Arnold St. NE at Depot Park and the Festhalle Market Platz today; it’s expected to reopen Tuesday evening.
Weather:
No chance of snow today, but there will be a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 92. Tonight showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
Thinking ahead:
Next month students go back to school. Time to get those classroom checklists in order. Check with your local store for early bargains; get out the old backpacks and ensure they are in working order. Make your own list and consider lunchboxes/freezer icepacks, bookbags, coats/sweaters, umbrellas/rainslickers, etc. And, remember to check The Cullman Times for those articles on school calendars, lunchroom menus and tax-free shopping days!
