A woman from Warrior was killed Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Fultondale.
Kristy Leigh White, 35, was killed when she was thrown from a Ford F-150 pickup truck in which she was a passenger, according to Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Phillip Russell.
The crash occurred at the intersection of U.S. 31 (Decatur Highway) and Honeysuckle Drive at about 12:30 p.m., Russell said. The driver of the truck, John King of Warrior lost control and struck a Lincoln Town Car in a side-by-side impact, according to Fultondale Police Officer Jim Griffin, who handles reconstruction of crash scenes. The Lincoln was driven by Deborah Goodwin of Gardendale.
The truck wound up on its side, and White’s body was thrown out of the cab. She was dead at the scene.
Moderate rain was falling at the time of the crash, and Griffin said that hydroplaning may have been a cause of the crash, as the pickup truck had slick tires.
Russell said that King, Goodwin and another juvenile passenger were transported by ambulance from the scene. Griffin said that all three had been treated and released as of Friday morning.
