This morning, a 55-year-old man was shot near Village Springs in northern Jefferson County. Deputies were dispatched to a home in the 8600 block of Old Highway 75 to investigate a report of a shooting. Deputies arrived to find the victim lying in the driveway. The initial investigation revealed that the victim and a second man, Shornel Stringer, had been arguing. Stringer pulled a hand gun and shot the victim one time. The suspect then fled the scene in a 1964-65 red Chevrolet Impala. The victim was was transprted to UAB Hospital where he underwent surgery. His condition is not known at this time. Stringer remains at large. He is described as a 36 year old black male 5’11” and 250 pounds. Anyone who knows where he is or has any information about this case is asked to call the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 205-325-1450.

Weather: Today will look much like yesterday, with highs close to triple digits in some areas. There is a 30-percent chance of thunderstorms and s howers today.

Traffic: There is nothing major planned for the highways and interstates in the area.
