Twenty merchants in Gardendale are offering special deals through the Greater Gardendale Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber is selling Chamber Rewards Card for $10 each. By using the cards, shoppers get discounts at eight restaurants plus a jewelry store, sporting goods store, pharmacy, hair salon, oil change business, medical offices and more.

“We’re encouraging people to shop in Gardendale, and we encourage businesses to give back to the community,” said Chamber Director Alan Hall. “Basically, everything you need, you can get discounts on with the card.”

The cards expire Dec. 31, 2013, and can be used as often as the shopper wants.

“You can use it over and over,” Hall said. “We want people to continue to use it.”

Organizations such as sports teams or youth groups can also use the cards as fund-raiser for the group.

Hall said groups can purchase 100 or more cards for $5 each, sell them for $10 each, and keep the profits.

Several teams have already made money selling the cards, according to Hall.

“We want to give back. That’s what this is all about,” Hall said.

Chamber Rewards Cards are available at the Greater Gardendale Chamber of Commerce office at 2109 Moncrief Road near the tennis courts.

• Subway: Buy any 6-inch sub, get one free with a drink purchase

• Gardendale Pharmacy: 10 percent off OTC products and $10 off one prescription

• Dairy Queen (coming soon): Buy one blizzard, get one for 99 cents

• Little Caesars: Large pizza, crazy bread and 2-liter drink for $9

• Mr. B’s Carwash: $3 off the Ultimate Wash
