A good Tuesday morning to you…

Weather: You’re getting warmer. The summertime pattern continues. It will be sunny and hot, with highs near 90 today and nighttime lows in the upper 60s. Temperatures will slowly increase throughout the week, reaching the middle to upper 90s by the weekend. The first sign of rain is a slight chance on Friday.

Traffic: Nothing out of the ordinary today, says ALDOT.

Escaped suspect caught — by mom. Deandrea Miles, who fled from St. Vincent’s East hospital with nothing but his gown, slippers and handcuffs on Sunday, was taken to the Birmingham Police East Precinct early Monday by his mother. Miles, who was shot during an attempted home invasion on Friday and taken to the hospital, was the subject of an extensive manhunt after he bolted from his wheelchair on Sunday.

One dead in Robinwood house fire. Kevin Barnes died in a fire that apparently started on the front porch of his father’s house Monday morning. Barnes was staying in the house with his son while his father and mother were out of town. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Sports: LaDanian Tomlinson retires. After signing a one-day contract with his former team, the San Diego Chargers, one of the NFL’s all-time great running backs called it quits Monday. Tomlinson finished second all-time (behind Emmitt Smith) in rushing touchdowns, and fifth in rushing yards…. Baseball: Top-ranked Florida was eliminated from the NCAA College World Series in Omaha Monday, thanks to a 5-4 victory by Kent State. The Gators had the bases loaded in the ninth inning, but couldn’t catch the Golden Flashes… Former pitcher Roger Clemens was acquitted of all six charges related to his alleged use of steroids and performance-enhancing drugs. “The Rocket” was found not guilty of perjury, obstructing Congress and making false statements in testimony before a Congressional hearing in 2009.
