The system announced that it will seek input from the public in its search to replace retiring Supt. Dr. Phil Hammonds. That input will come in part from a forum to be held at Gardendale High School on June 13.

The search will be run by the Alabama Association of School Boards, which will hold the public meeting from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the school library. Earlier that day, the AASB will also hold a meeting for public officials and leaders, beginning at 9:30 a.m.; it will also be open to the public.

A similar public meeting will be held June 12 at Hueytown High.

Additionally, the AASB is seeking online comment through this form. The survey is anonymous, and will be open through June 18.

Hammonds’ contract expires next February, and he has not sought an extension. He has served as head of the system since 2004.
