Wednesday, hump day, let’s get on our humps and get to it….

Weather: More scattered showers. We had a few thundershowers roll through late last night, and we can expect a few more widely scattered rain cells today, with highs in the lower 90s. Rain chance is 10 percent. More clouds roll in tonight and it will be cooler, with lows in the middle 50s. Stormy weather settles in Thursday evening and continues through Friday, and some storms may be severe. Highs will be in the middle to upper 80s, with lows in the upper 50s.

Traffic: Nothing unusual through the Corridor X construction zone on I-65. The outbound closure of I-20/59 in Bessemer continues; if you’re headed toward Tuscaloosa, keep going south on I-65 through downtown, then go west on I-459.

It’s official: Romney is the nominee. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney won the Texas Republican presidential primary with ease Tuesday night, and in doing so won enough delegates to ensure a first-ballot nomination at the GOP convention. Romney has been the presumptive nominee for several weeks, as all of his top opponents fell by the wayside.

Council to Harris: Prove you live here. The Kimberly City Council handed down an ultimatum to Mayor Craig Harris — show proof that he resides within city limits as required by state law, or resign. The resolution, passed unanimously, is the latest salvo in a battle between the council and Harris, after a vote of no confidence and a resolution calling for his resignation earlier this year. Harris is also in the middle of the investigation of illegal gambling and bribery by the FBI, in which he secretly recorded gambling operators offering and paying bribes.

Sports: The losing streak ends. The Atlanta Braves finally ended their eight-game winning streak, as they beat St. Louis 5-4 Tuesday night. Dan Uggla provided the big spark with a three-run homer… Basketball: San Antonio took a 2-0 lead in the NBA Western Conference Finals with a 120-111 win over Oklahoma City at home Tuesday. Tony Parker led the Spurs with 34 points; the team has now won 20 straight games, going back into the regular season, setting a new NBA record… Tennis: For the first time in her career, Serena Williams has lost a first-round match in a Grand Slam event. She lost 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-3 to Virginie Razzano in the French Open. Williams was two points away from winning the match on two occasions. She had won 46 straight first-round contests before Tuesday’s loss… Hockey: The Stanley Cup Finals get underway tonight, as the Los Angeles Kings take on the New Jersey Devils and their ageless goalie, Martin Brodeur. The 40-year-old keeper also played for the Cup as a teenager, the only player in NHL history to do so.
