Weather: Drying out. A line of severe thunderstorms moved through the metro area around 1 a.m., but did little or no damage, aside from some loud thunder that woke up a few folks. You might see some patchy fog early today. The rain will move out today, and skies will be clear and temperatures will rise for the rest of the week. Highs will top out around 80 today, with lows tonight near 58. Wednesday will be sunny with a high around 85.

Traffic: No problems through the Corridor X construction zone on I-65 today. A reminder that ALDOT closed I-20/59 outbound through Bessemer. If you are headed toward Tuscaloosa, go south on I-65 to I-459, then west.

Legislature works out the boundaries. Amid complaints from outnumbered Democrats, the Alabama House approved a redistricting plan Monday in a special session. The plan merges two current Democrat districts and creates two new districts in conservative Republican areas. Opponents say it reduces the influence of Democrats, especially majority-black districts. The Senate continues work on its own plan today. Both must be approved by Gov. Robert Bentley, and must also pass muster with the U.S. Department of Justice.

Unlike. The much ballyhooed initial public offering of stock in Facebook hasn’t worked out to well for most investors. The stock opened at $38 per share Friday and moved up modestly, and dropped to $34.03 by the closing bell on Monday — a drop of more than 11 percent. Co-founder Mark Zuckerberg still made out pretty well, increasing his net worth to more than $10 billion even with the price drop. Oh, and he also got married over the weekend.

Sports: Lucky ace. Rob Elliott was enjoying a golf outing to benefit the Boy Scouts and its Exploring program on Monday, when he did something every golfer dreams of — he got a hole-in-one. But even better, that ace was worth a cool $25,000. Elliott, who is an associate pastor at Gardendale First Baptist Church, used a seven-iron off the tee at No. 2 at Grayson Valley, and watched the ball bump the front of the green and roll into the hole. Elliott had a choice between the cash and a new pickup truck.
