Senior first baseman Hillary Farris feasted on Viking pitching, driving in four runs on two triples and a double in three at-bats. Second baseman Jordan Entrekin also drove in four runs on a bases-clearing double and a sacrifice fly. Catcher Bailee Hammock scored all three times she got to the plate, with two singles and a fielder’s choice.

Meanwhile, starting pitcher Madison McCormack faced the minimum in three innings’ work. She gave up two singles, but one hitter was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double, and the other was caught stealing.

Reliever Cheyenne Bryant struck out three in the last two innings, and missed perfection only because of an error.

Corner 9, No. 2 (3A) Pisgah 7: “It was a typical Corner-Pisgah game. Someone gets a big lead early, then it gets interesting at the end.”

Coach Aaron James succintly summed up the Jackets win over Pisgah Monday, after his team put up eight runs in the third inning, and held on as the Eagles tried to claw their way back.

Madison McCormack pitched the complete game, striking out seven and giving up just two earned runs, as the Jackets struggled defensively in the late going.

Lillie Blackmon hit a bases-clearing double, while Taylor Sloan scored three runs. Hillary Farris and Leslie Blackmon also went 2-for-4 at the plate.

Corner 4, No. 6 (6A) Sparkman: In the closing game of the tri-series at Huntsville, Jordan Entrekin stopped one of the state’s biggest teams cold, scattering six hits and two strikeouts over seven innings.

Sloan was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles that drove in two runs. McCormack also hit a double for the Jackets (10-10-1).
