Arrests made in area drug sting

Local law enforcement agencies recently conducted another crackdown on drug activity across the county.
The end result of the two-month-long investigation by the Cullman Narcotics Enforcement Team led to the arrest of 28 people and 59 warrants being served. The warrants ranged from trafficking to manufacturing and distribution of a controlled substance. Several covered a variety of lesser charges, including drug possession and failure to appear.
According to CNET director Joey Cone, some of those arrested are repeat offenders from the last roundup in December 2011 that netted 73 arrests.
“All of this stems from a lot of hard work the CNET agents put together,” Cone said.
Agents from the sheriff’s department, Cullman Police Department and Hanceville Department all assisted in the efforts.
“They all chipped in and were a real big help,” Cone said. “Everybody cooperated well and worked with us.”
Craig Green, assistant police chief with the Cullman Police Department, commended CNET for the efforts in arresting those involved with illegal activity.
“This is a continuous effort by CNET and we appreciate their dedication, hard work and effort to put those in jail who choose to use and sell illegal substances.”
