Mortimer Jordan and host Hayden, the top two seeds in the Class 5A Area 11 Girls Basketball Tournament, each coasted to easy wins in the first round Thursday night and will play each other for the area crown Saturday at 3 p.m.

Jordan easily took care of Walker 52-27, with Haylie McCleney scoring 22 points, Alysa “Peanut” Amberson with 11 (6-6 FT), and Megan Snow with 10 blocks.

Hayden dispatched Curry 49-27. Krista Stricklin has 21 points with three 3-pointers and 4-4 FT, plus seven rebounds and five steals; Katie Parr adde 10 points and seven rebounds.
