Leslie Diane Newman Vines

Leslie Diane Newman Vines, 55, passed away on December 11, 2011 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Leslie was a lifelong resident of the Gardendale-Mount Olive area.

She was one of four children born to the late J.B. and Maybelle Elliot Newman and was the beloved wife of Allen Vines, Jr.

Leslie will be forever remembered by her devoted brothers, James and Billy Newman; loving sister, Elaine Kennedy; beloved children, Whittney (Ryan) Taunton, Shelly (Wayne) Smith and Allen (Denice) Vines III; treasured grandchildren, Katelynn and Gloria Smith, Marshall, Dominic and Lucas Vines, and Madalyn Taunton, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her.

Leslie loved spending time with family and friends, traveling, and touching others’ lives through acts of kindness and love.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Dec. 13 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Gardendale Funeral Home. The funeral was held on Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. at Gardendale Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Smith officiating.

Special thanks to the staff at Brookwood Medical Center for the compassionate care given during this time. The family would like to extend special appreciation to all the churches, friends and family for their unwavering prayers and support throughout her battle.
