- Fultondale kindergartener Daniella Mendoza tells Santa her Christmas wishes.
Rain forced the city of Fultondale’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony indoors on Monday night.
The ceremony was held in the Birmingham Square Dance Association Hall and featured the Fultondale High School band, directed by Michael Gillespie; a first-grade choir from Fultondale Elementary School, directed by Michael Myrick; a welcome from Mayor Jim Lowery; and, of course, Santa Claus.
Also at the event, square dancers gave a dance exhibition, served refreshments and helped organize the line of children waiting to see Santa. City officials lit the city’s Christmas tree behind city hall and said anyone who made ornaments may place them on the tree at any time.
