Sylvia Ann Bullard Swanger, 68, of Birmingham, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 3, 2011.  

Mrs. Swanger is survived by her husband, Jimmie Melton Swanger, her brothers Cecil Bullard (Susan) and James Bullard, her sister Anita Smith (Rusty), nieces and nephews (all residing in Dexter ME), her sister-in-law Neva Jane Abbott (Jeff), niece Margaret Browning and family of Savannah Ga., brother-in-law Michael Browning and family of Bradenton, Fla.,  and a host of loving friends.

Mrs. Swanger had retired from Associated Groceries of the South after 26 years and was a member of Pioneer Baptist Church.

Mrs. Swanger was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Aljah Bullard.

Arrangements are being handled by Gardendale Funeral Home. Her remains will be cremated; a memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 5 p.m., with visitation held an hour prior. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in her name to the Alabama Humane Society.
