The Fultondale Fire Department was host this weekend to a state- and nationally-certified firefighter training course. It was the first time the course was taught in the field, according to Cpt. Josh Bryant.

Seventeen firefighters attended the apparatus operator class mobile water supply, held Saturday and Sunday at Fultondale Fire Station No. 2.

On hand were tankers from the Mt. Olive and Glennwood fire departments and the U.S. Air Force.

The Fultondale department does not have a tanker, which is why the training was important for its members, according to Bryant. He said Mt. Olive and Glennwood are both mutual aid departments, meaning they all respond to help the others when needed.

Firefighters attended from Mt. Olive, Glennwood, Birmingham, St. Clair County and even one from New Mexico.

Bryant is familiar with mobile water supply procedures; he and Lt. Will King teach the course throughout the state.

The course was administered through the Alabama Fire College.
