The third annual “Tapping Out Childhood Cancer” gala will be on Sept 25, from 1:30-5:30 p.m. at Gabrella Manor in Birmingham.

The gala was created by 11-year-old cancer survivor and Mt. Olive Elementary School student Alex Swader, who is an avid dancer.

The event raises money for childhood cancer research at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham. Special guests this year include Fabian Sanchez from “Dancing with the Stars,” Miss Alabama 2011 Courtney Porter and Miss Alabama 2010 Ashley Davis, as well as performances by the UAB Golden Girls, Hewitt Trussville High Steppers and local dance studios. There will also be food, games, prizes and other entertainment.
