Kimberly Officer posthumously promoted

The Kimberly City Council adopted a resolution at its last regular meeting to promote Kimberly police officer Jerrod Stathers to the rank of Sergeant. Stathers died recently from injuries sustained from a car crash in Warrior that also killed his 8-year-old son, Shane.
Blount County schools have received approval from the Alabama Department of Education to make up the school day missed on Sept. 6 by extending the school day in each of the Hayden schools by 72 minutes each day Sept. 26-30.
A Warrior man was killed last week in an industrial accident in Hayden, according to reports from the Blounty County Sheriff’s Office. Shannon Sullens, 34, was reportedly crushed and killed after being caught in machinery at Tangent Rails.
