Tabernacle Chr. 50, Gerogia-Alabama Chr. 30: Goodgame scores five TDs as Torches get fourth win

Tabernacle Christian’s Freddie Goodgame gave his usual performance Friday night with five touchdowns, leading the Torches to a 50-30 victory over the Georgia-Alabama Christian.

Goodgame ran three touchdowns, all at least 50 yards, passed one to teammate JoJo Zassoda and caught one from Eddie Johnson.

Johnson helped the Torches move down the field with two completed passes out of four attempts for 30 total passing yards.

Johnson also ran a touchdown in with a one-yard run, as did the Torches’ Caleb Marshall with a 61-yard run.

Sam Diguattro scored two touchdowns for the Lions.

Goodgame made 19 rushing attempts for 242 total yards. Tristan Castro came in second with 12 rushing attempts for 62 yards.

On Tabernacle’s defensive front lines was Kent Smith, with eight tackles and Will Miller with seven tackles and an interception.

Miller was also the top receiver with a single 34-yard catch.

The Torches got an early lead with 24-12 at the end of the first quarter and never lost it. It was 44-12 at the half.

The Torches host First Assembly Christian School in a Thursday-night game at Moncrief Park.
