The Jefferson County Commission has delayed action yet again on whether or not to file for Chapter 9 banjruptcy.
After meeting for four hours and 20 minutes in executive session with its lawyers on Thursday, Commission President David Carrington announced that, at the request of Gov. Robert Bentley, the commission would take a “standtill” to make a counter-offer to creditors, and would meet again on Friday, August 12 at 9 a.m. to consider the response from creditors.
Carrington said that there was progress in Thursday’s proceedings. “If we weren’t making progress, we wouldn’t have another standtill,” he said.
