A 17-year-old male was assaulted early Thursday morning in a probable mugging, according to Gardendale police.
Carlos Donell Johnson, 18, of Gardendale was arrested at the 200 block of Pine Street on charges of second-degree robbery. Police said Johnson allegedly attacked the victim with a baseball bat. Gardendale Police Sergeant Bryan Lynch said police suspect Johnson and the victim know each other. The victim did not suffer serious injuries. The property listed in the police report for the case is a Dodge Ram 1500.
Lynch said a patrol car happened to be close by, and chased Johnson on foot a short distance before arresting him. Gardendale police are taking the case to District Attorney Brandon Falls’ office to determine what to do next.
